Please note the following law update that has been issued from the World Rugby and takes effect immediately:
There has been an addition to the section of the law book dealing with dangerous play as follows:
Law 9.19
In open play, any player may lift or support a player from the same team. Players who support or lift a teammate must lower the player to the ground safely as soon as the ball is won by a player of either team.
Sanction: Free-kick
This law complements the existing law for lineouts:
18.28.c...... Players who support or lift a team-mate must lower the player to the ground safely as soon as the ball is won by a player of either team. Sanction: Free-kick.
and covers the living of players when receiving the ball after a restart kick.
It takes effect immediately.
N-Pro Head gear and Re-focus on dangerous contact with the head
A new document has been issued by World Rugby concerning the use of the N-Pro Head Gear and how the referee should deal with contact with the head.
